My computer wont format my memory stick, how do i format it?

I have Windows Vista Home Premium, and its my laptop. And i Have a Sony Camera which uses a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo Card (MSX-M2GS) and in order to put pictures on my computer it says i have to format it, well when i hit start, to format it, it says it cannot be done. What do i do? Im desperate!

1. Click the Start button, then click Computer or My Computer .
2. In the My Computer window, click to select the Memory Stick® drive.
3. On the menu bar , click File .
4. On the File menu, click Format .
5. In the Format Memory Stick window, click the Start button.
6. In the WARNING: Formatting window, click to OK button.
7. In the Format Complete window, click the OK button.
